- Build skills to ensure long-term success

- Participate in the Leadership in Academic Medicine Program (LAMP), a program for early career faculty in their second and third years of appointment.
The LAMP curriculum includes:- Promotion and tenure guidance
- Leadership practices
- Turning everyday work into scholarship
- Effective teaching practices
- Maintaining balance in your work
- Discovering your strengths
- Individual career-development consulting
- Subsequently participate in LAMP PLUS+.
During LAMP PLUS+, faculty will: - Develop or enhance strategies to promote wellness, overcome adversity, build resiliency and mitigate burnout
- Receive structured mentoring related to career planning and professional development
- Complete a scholarly product for submission in a peer-reviewed forum
- Have the option to apply for up to $40,000 in project funding ($20,000 per year for a total of two years) to support scholarly work. (Read more about this option in the LAMP PLUS+ Scholar Project Funds section, below.)
Eligibility Criteria
This program, like all Indiana University events/programs; groups; activities; and educational, cultural and historical observances, is open to all members of the IU community. Priority will be given to early career faculty who focus on advancing science and/or patient care to improve health care access and outcomes for all, with a particular focus on medically underserved communities.
Access to quality health care remains a challenge for many Hoosiers. As such, in your application, you will be asked to describe your commitment to advancing science and/or patient care to improve health care access and outcomes for all, with a particular focus on medically underserved communities. As you prepare your application for LAMP PLUS+, address the following questions:
- What are your career goals, and what do you hope to accomplish in the next three years?
- Why are you interested in LAMP PLUS+, and how will it support your career development and growth?
- What experiences have shaped your understanding of health care across communities, and how to increase access and improve patient outcomes?
- What do you see as your future role in improving health care access and outcomes for medically underserved communities? (Please note that this does not have to be direct patient care; your research, education and other service activities could be how you plan to make a difference.)
