If you have between three and eight years of faculty experience, a doctorate degree and an idea for a scholarly project focused on academic medicine, IU School of Medicine invites you to apply for sponsorship for the Macy Faculty Scholars Program, presented by the Josiah Macy Jr. Foundation. Indiana University School of Medicine can put forth one candidate for this limited-submission application.
The Macy Faculty Scholars Program seeks to identify early-career faculty who have shown great promise as educators, clinicians and role models and who are committed to careers in health professions education.
Each Macy Faculty Scholar receives:
- Up to $200,000 in salary support for two years, protecting 50% of their time to pursue a mentored educational project at their sponsoring institution
- $25,000 per year for two years to subsidize the cost of professional development activities and expenses related to their educational project
- A formal mentor from the foundation’s National Advisory Committee
- A peer mentor from the Macy Faculty Scholars alumni network
- Tuition costs for one Harvard Macy Institute course
- Access to Macy grantees and programs
- Attendance at the Macy Faculty Scholars Annual Meeting
By providing scholars with these resources, the program aims to accelerate their careers, turn their teaching practice into scholarship, and help them become impactful leaders locally, nationally and beyond.
If you would like to be considered for selection as IU School of Medicine's one candidate for this program, submit the following no later than Sunday, June 1, 2025:
- A personal statement (no longer than one page) describing your journey to becoming a health professions educator and your goals for the future
- A brief description (no longer than one page) of the educational project you would pursue
- Your current curriculum vitae (CV)
The candidate IU School of Medicine sponsors for the program will later submit an application for consideration by the Josiah Macy Jr. Foundation, which chooses up to five Macy Faculty Scholars per year.
Applicants must be United States citizens or permanent residents of the U.S. or one of its territories.
