Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS)

Beginning in Fall 2024, the AS Radiography and BS Nuclear Medicine Technology programs will no longer conduct interviews as part of the programs admission policy. A Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) has replaced the personal interview portion of the radiography and nuclear medicine technology programs. The TEAS test is a required part of the application for the radiography associate's degree program, even if a student has a previous college degree or has attended IU Indianapolis previously.

It is the student’s responsibility to ensure program eligibility requirements have been met before taking this test. There are no test refunds available.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is TEAS?

A strong knowledge in the areas of English, math, science, and reading comprehension correlates to a higher probability of success in the radiography and imaging programs. The TEAS exam is designed specifically to assess a student’s preparedness to enter an allied health science field.

Which medical imaging programs require the test for new admissions?

  • Radiography — Required for all applicants
  • Nuclear Medicine Technology — Required for all applicants
  • Diagnostic Sonography — Required for applicants who do not hold a health care related degree
  • Medical Imaging Technology — not required

Students must include their "TEAS Test score sheet" with the program application to be considered for the program.

Completion of the TEAS test or program prerequisites does not guarantee entry into the program.

When and where can I take the TEAS test?

To be considered for a program in January 2025, a TEAS test must be completed by Nov. 12, 2024.

For convenience, students can schedule their test at the IU Indianapolis testing center. The cost is $87.

Students may also take the proctored test online with ATI for $120. This option offers more test dates.

  • The test is offered at the IU Indianapolis testing center every Tuesday from June 4–Nov. 12, 2024.
  • The registration form will prompt you to select a date.
  • Hours of the test are preselected and cannot be changed by the student.
  • This test may take as long as 3 hours.

How can I get accommodations?

To be considered for testing accommodations, please submit an accommodations request to ATI Test Security at proctor@atitesting.com at least 30 days prior to testing/signing up for a test date.
